We’ve talked about marble and brick, but what about concrete? Concrete may not be the prettiest girl at the ball, but she’s sturdy and cost efficient. So, let’s get the rundown on what makes concrete an awesome masonry material for your next project. Ready? Here we go!
Concrete is very tough.
There’s a reason why a lot of builders have been using concrete for hundreds of years. Concrete is one of the sturdiest building materials out there. That’s why they use it to make bridges and driveways. Concrete is going to be ideal for structures that have to take a consistent beating because concrete can take it.
It doesn’t require a lot of maintenance.
As we’ve covered, Marble requires a whole lot of maintenance to keep it looking good. Brick takes a little less, but concrete requires the least amount of care. You should still rinse it with some water every once in a while, but you can mostly leave it alone to be cleaned by the rain. This great material practically takes care of itself.
Green technology is cool.
Concrete doesn’t create a huge amount of emissions when it is mixed and laid. This makes it one of the more sustainable masonry materials available today. Sustainable technology is very important because it keeps our world looking beautiful. Did you know that it can keep itself cool because of its reflective qualities? Who knew?
